BUH Foundation's On Air: for Healthcare Radio-thon Coming Up

April 3rd 2018

“BUH Foundation’s ‘On Air: for Healthcare’ Radio-thon Coming Up”

North Battleford, SK – Battlefords Union Hospital (BUH) Foundation’s 3rd Annual ‘On Air: for Healthcare’ Radio-thon is coming up on Friday, May 11th, 6:00am – 6:00pm.  It will broadcast live from BUH’s main lobby in partnership with the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group of 1050 CJNB/CJNS, Q98, 93.3 The Rock and the support of BattlefordsNOW.  It is an exciting day with proceeds raised going to support BUH Foundation’s capital campaign, “We Don’t Want to Miss a Beat” to purchase new heart monitoring equipment for BUH.

“We are looking forward to another great day of fundraising for the 2018 radio-thon.  The Battlefords and surrounding communities are always very generous and responsive to the need of enriched healthcare close to home and we invite everyone to be a part of this fun day,” shares Claudette McGuire, Executive Director of BUH Foundation.

Some ways that businesses, organizations and individuals can be involved, both on the day of and leading up to May 11th include: hosting your own fundraiser (meal, dress down day, proceeds of sale of items); selling ‘I Care for Healthcare’ Mics for a toonie (available at BUH Foundation office); challenging co-workers, employees or other organizations or businesses to match donations raised; donating a percentage of your tips or your business sales; giving a donation in honour or in memory of a loved one; making a donation for each child, grandchild or great-grandchild and ensuring the best is here for the next generation.  All donations made to “We Don’t Want to Miss a Beat” and the 3rd Annual ‘On Air: for Healthcare’ will be announced, celebrated and thanked (unless requested to keep confidential) on air on Friday, May 11th.  As such, if you, your business or organization raised funds and is making a donation, you are invited to come make the presentation live on air that day.

BUH Foundation organizers will also be looking for volunteers to help out during the Radio-thon on May 11th.  High energy individuals will be needed to answer phones and receive donations from 6:00am – 6:00pm.  Every donation is important and every dollar adds up to make a difference.  If you would like to be a part of the grateful individuals to receive these donations, please contact the Foundation office, 306-446-6652.

Thank you to Jim Pattison Broadcast Group and Fisher’s Drug Store, presenting sponsor, for making ‘On Air: for Healthcare’ Radio-thon possible.  Through this fundraiser BUH Foundation has been able to raise support for the new CT Scanner at BUH in 2016 and new Ears Nose & Throat Surgical Equipment in 2017.  We look forward to partnering with everyone in 2018 and making new heart monitoring equipment a reality for those in need.  Thank you for your support.

About Battlefords Union Hospital (BUH) Foundation:

Battlefords Union Hospital (BUH) Foundation is dedicated to enriching patient care at BUH through responsible stewardship of community contributions and volunteer resources.  BUH Foundation, operating independently of other healthcare organizations, is the main fundraising agency of BUH and provides funding for the purchase of capital/non-capital equipment and staff education.  Through a bequest from Victor Pearsall in 2011, BUH Foundation began the Victor Pearsall Home Care Fund allowing funding for Battlefords Region Home Care.  For more information about BUH Foundation visit www.buhfoundation.com.

About “We Don’t Want to Miss a Beat” Capital Campaign:

“We Don’t Want to Miss a Beat” is raising funds to replace and upgrade the Central Cardiac Telemetry System (CCTS), or heart monitoring equipment, at BUH.  This system monitors patients that have concerns of chest pain, unexplained fainting episodes or dizzy periods, shortness of breath, or issues with heart or blood pressure medications, among other conditions.  These patients would require monitoring of their condition to observe reaction to normal activities and to determine if the issues are heart related.  This assists in the proper diagnosis and treatment of a patient’s condition to provide the best care and treatment possible.  BUH Foundation has committed to raise $216,000 in support of “We Don’t Want to Miss a Beat” capital campaign.  For more information on “We Don’t Want to Miss a Beat” visit www.buhfoundation.com.
