Charitable Donations

 

Donating to Battlefords Union Hospital (BUH) Foundation is a positive experience. Not only does it give a knowledge that you are making a positive contribution to the health and well-being of your community, including your friends and family, but it can result in savings on your income tax return.

Achieving a tax savings through charitable donation tax credits should be recognized when you are considering making a donation. Qualified donations will result in a direct reduction in the amount of income tax owing for the year of the donation.

Not all those things which you may think are donations qualify for a charitable donation receipt. Some examples of things that do not qualify are:

Donations can be made in many forms that would suit your financial situation.

All donations (except those listed above) that are greater than $10 automatically receive a charitable receipt for income tax purposes.

Personal Donations

Many individuals make donations large and small throughout the year. It may be from $10 to $10,000, or greater, and may be a one-time gift or a recurring, monthly contribution to the Monthly Giving Club, A Brighter Tomorrow.  Monthly contributions are convenient for you, the donor, as your gift can be automatically processed on your credit card or from your bank account on the date you choose and can be any amount you desire. 

Memorial Gifts

Celebrating a life of a family member, friend and colleague can be a very powerful and meaningful gift.  Making a donation to BUH Foundation in memory of them is a wonderful way to honour that person and will have a moving impact by helping us provide healing tools to preserve the health and life of our community and we are very grateful. 

You will receive a charitable receipt and the family will be sent a memorial card notifying them of your contribution.  Once donations reach $1,000 or greater a plaque in memory of your family, friend or colleague will be placed on the Foundation's Donor Wall under the 'In Memory' category.  Also, if an individual’s donations reach $1,000 or more they will have the opportunity to have a plaque in their name displayed on the Donor Wall under the 'Bronze' category.

To make a memorial donation is easy

Click on Donate Now! Canada Help.org link on the sidebar on this site then click on donate at the top of the page, under “Search by Charity” type in Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation and click on the search button. Once the foundation pops up click on Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation; scroll down the page and make your donation, email to: claudette.mcguire@pnrha.ca  or call 306-446-6652.

You can also discuss your wish to make a Memorial Donation with your funeral director.  BUH Foundation has relationships with the local funeral homes and we work together to support you during this difficult time.  All you need to do is inform your funeral home that you wish to have donations to the BUH Foundation in lieu of flowers and they will do the rest, i.e. “In Lieu of flowers a donation in memory of (name of loved one) to BUH Foundation would be appreciated.”

After donations have been made in lieu of flowers, you will receive an acknowledgement letter with a summary of the thoughtful gifts by others.

A Tribute Gift is another way of honouring someone for a special event such as an anniversary, retirement, graduation or birthday.  Once you have decided to make a tribute for someone, we will inform the person that you have honoured them with this kind gift. If your donation is $1,000 or more a plaque in the name of honouree will be placed on the Foundation’s Donor Wall under the Honour’ category.
