For The Battleford’s community, the first Monday in June is synonymous with fun, comradeship, and friendly competitiveness, carried out in the warm spirit of giving, all in the memory of a much loved and respected individual.  The Wayne Pruden Memorial Golf Tournament was initiated in 1996 by family and close friends to honour the memory of Wayne Pruden as a loving father and husband, and as a tribute to his dedication to his community.  His willingness to contribute to the well-being of The Battlefords had the heart-warming effect of prompting others to do the same – creating a ripple response of generosity.

Monday, June 1^st, continued this tradition and the 13^th Annual Wayne Pruden Memorial Golf Tournament once again established the loyal support this event carries in the community.  There was a sold out roster of 204 golfers, sponsorship remained very strong, and, as was overheard in the Clubhouse, “The weather may have started badly, but I knew it would turn out nice, because it is the Wayne Pruden today!”  So with that optimism on hand the weather turned to the better, and a successful fun day was had by all.

The 2009 Champions were Captain Brian Silvester, and Team Members: Mike Silvester, Dwayne Johnston, Dylan Ray, Jason Chakita and Don Humphreys with a score of 54. Congratulations!

The BUH Foundation would like to thank all the volunteers, NBGCC staff, and the Pruden family members and friends for all their assistance.  This event takes a great deal of organizing, preparation, and effort and could not have been accomplished without each and everyone of you.  Thank you! 

Every year the funds raised by this event are allocated to purchase much needed critical equipment for Battlefords Union Hospital.  The $28,000.00 raised this year has been allocated to enhance patient care in the renal dialysis unit – ensuring a patient’s comfort and well-being during the 3 hour dialysis procedure.  BUH Foundation is very grateful for community and the business community’s ongoing support.  Your generosity is very much appreciated and more importantly, benefits everyone in The Battlefords.
