Registration is full and sponsorship is higher than ever for the 13^th Annual Wayne Pruden Memorial Golf Tournament.  BUH Foundation held a kickoff for the event on Wednesday, May 13^th, 2009 at the North Battleford Golf & Country Club. Brian Maunula, CEO of Innovation Credit Union, presented Ben Christensen, BUHF Director, with a $6,000.00 cheque, representing their sponsorship for the annual Tournament. Over the past 13 years of the Tournament’s existence nearly $254,000 has been raised and donated to Battlefords Union Hospital  to improve healthcare through the purchase of medical equipment. “The positive contribution that this golf tournament makes to improve health care in our region is outstanding and Innovation Credit Union is honoured to be Master Sponsor for the past 13 years” said Maunula.

The Tournament will be held June 1st, with 204 golfers on hand. Through the memory of Wayne Pruden, who was looked at as an “architect of the community,” residents of The Battlefords have an opportunity to follow in his footsteps and do their part to better the community. Through the funds raised by the Wayne Pruden Memorial Golf Tournament, Battlefords Union Hospital has been able to purchase numerous pieces of equipment. In 2008 - $29 000 was raised for the purchase of four additional pieces of life saving equipment. A Triple Channel IV Plum for the Intensive Care Unit, allowing for the administration of three medications with one pump, and three vital signs monitors for use on the 3rd Floor Medical Ward, and out-patient day surgery.
