New Mammography Equipment

Proceeds from the 2006 - 2007 and 2007 - 2008 Lotteries were allocated toward the Breast Health Fund for the purchase of new mammography equipment for the Diagnostic Imaging Department at BUH.

A LTV Portable Ventilator is utilized for intubated patients requiring transfers to other facilites

Slide Stainerslide stainer

A Slide Stainer prepares slides for the pathologist, allowing them to examine specimen microscopically and help diagnose cancer.

Electronic Fetal Monitorselectronic fetal monitor

These monitors are used during labour and alert nursing to any potential problems with the baby. It replaced an older monitor.

2001-2002

Colonoscope
A Colonoscopy is the use of a flexible tube to visualize the intestinal tract with the images produced on a video screen. This procedure helps to diagnose colon cancer, polyps, diverticula, inflammation or strictures.

The Canadian Cancer Society recommends a Screening Colonoscopy for early detection of Colo-Rectal Cancer.

 

The 2001/2002 Monthly Lottery was a sell-out for the lottery and it sold out by the Early Bird deadline. Because of its success the additional funds raised went to purchase four (4) blood pressure machines for various wards at BUH. Thank you to all ticket buyers for making this additional purchase possible.

 


 


2000-2001

Life Pak Monitor

This portable life saving device measures a patient's cardiac rhythm, blood pressure and oxygen saturation. It also allows the medical technician to administer timed electric shocks to stabilize the patient's heart during transport.

 

12 Mechanical Beds

the 2000/2001 Lottery purchased 12 Mechanical Beds. Beds are not very glamorous items however, they are a necessity for any hospital and help to enhance patient care.

 


1999-2000

A portable stand alone SAO2 monitor with Printout for the Recovery room in the OR

This device measures post-operative patients vitals such as heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen saturation levels . It also allows the doctors and nurses to print any irregularities for further diagnosis.
