North Battleford, SK – Evelyn Bergen of Battleford is the lucky winner of $1,000 in the Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation Monthly Lottery previous purchaser draw.

Commenting on the success of this year’s lottery, executive director, Janice Sander, said “We all had it in the back of our minds that last year we had sold out by April 16. We were hoping that we could sell all the tickets before the Early Bird Draw date again this year, but nobody ever dreamt we would sell all the tickets before the Previous Purchaser cut-off date of March 31. That’s more than two weeks earlier than last year.”

“Staff were really busy right from the day tickets went on sale on February 23. One of our Board members, Pat Gottto and volunteers Donna Hickson and Rose Chorney sold tickets in the lobby and had was a tremendous boost to ticket sales,” said Foundation chairman, Jim Peach. Proceeds raised from the Monthly Lottery will purchase a Slide Stainer that prepares slides for microscopic examination by the pathologist. It aids in cancer diagnosis.

The Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation was created to raise and disburse funds for the enhancement of patient care at BUH . Successful fundraisers allow the Foundation to fulfill that mandate.
