Former Resident of the Battlefords Purchases an X-Ray Machine for BUH

North Battleford, SK – W. Brett Wilson and Family gifted Battlefords Union Hospital (BUH) Foundation $160,000 in memory of Doreen F. Wilson and Annie Brousseau.

Brett was a former resident of The Battlefords and attended the North Battleford Comprehensive High School in the early 1970s. He is a co-founder and the Managing Director and Chairman of FirstEnergy Capital Corp. A Calgary based brokerage firm focused on financing the Canadian Oil and Gas Industry.

Mr. Wilson and Family chose to donate to Battlefords Union Hospital because of the care his Mother and Grandmother both received at BUH. The funding is going towards the purchase of a general Radiographic/Tomographic Unit. This x-ray machine is a general duty x-ray machine that will do the majority of the basic and after hours emergency x-rays. This machine will replace an older, obsolete model that is two years past its life expectancy.

“I still vividly remember the day my Mother and Grandmother passed away at BUH, July 11th, 1987. I also remember the incredible care and attention my family received from the Nursing staff at BUH on that very sad day. This is our thank you to those whose life work is the care of others,” commented W. Brett Wilson.

“What a wonderful Christmas present the Wilson Family gave to BUH Foundation. I can’t think of a more wonderful way to cherish the memories of loved ones, than by ensuring others can continue to receive quality healthcare close to home,” commented Al Gotto, BUH Foundation Chairman.

Joan Chartier, Director of Acute Care, commented “We are delighted with the wonderful generosity that enables Battlefords Union Hospital to acquire equipment that will bring us to the forefront of diagnostic imaging technology.”

The x-ray machine will be ordered shortly and is expected to be in place by June, 2005
